Calling For Volunteers

Following the enormous success of the summer activities during 2009, the Almonry is looking to extend the range for 2010, but needs a helping hand to carry this out! If you think you have some time to spare during the day, an interest in arts and crafts and a sense of fun, please contact us on 01386 446944, or email tic@almonry.ndo.co.uk for information.

Almonry Heritage Centre signs up to the Kids In Museums Manifesto:

Take Part In the Almonry Relic Trail: The Almonry is part of the BBC History of the World project and children can take part in our very own free Relic Trail! This trail takes you around the museum, picking out 5 important objects and setting tasks for you to complete before collecting your Guardians of the Museum certificate. Follow this link to the BBC HOTW website.

Evesham Mop Fair Archive Project: Archive Arts, a Community Interest Company, is in the process of developing a creative archive to record the heritage and history of Evesham Mop Fair, which has been held on Merstow Green in Evesham for over 500 years. The Mop Fair was a hiring fair and a community event that could determine an individual's welfare and well-being over the coming months.

From January to end April 2010 Archive Arts will be carrying out oral history interviews with members of the local community and showpeople: if you have memories of the Mop Fair you'd like to share, please get in touch using the details below. We'd also love to know of any photos or memorabilia you may have.

Archive Arts are also looking for anybody interested in helping with the following areas: researching and archiving, web designing, promotion and publicity, and fundraising. Actors will be required in May 2010 for a cast to perform the audio plays based on the oral history interviews currently taking place.

If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Lisa Kimberley at the Evesham Volunteer Centre (The Lodge, Brick Kiln Street, Evesham, WR11 4AA) via email (lkimberley@hotmail.com) or phone 01386 40165/07971 675432.
