Heritage Open Days – Brilliant Buildings at The Almonry

Help us celebrate our Brilliant Building and put the Almonry to bed! Join us for our last day before we close to carry out major repair and restoration work, as we demonstrate the craftsmanship of traditional building techniques.

Have you ever wondered how old buildings were built and who built them? Our team of historic building craftspeople will be on site demonstrating the skills used to build these Medieval Masterpieces.

There will be demonstrations of hand slate making, hot lime mixing, plastering and stonemasonry. You can even make a roofing marking stick (you’ll have to come along to find out more!) Also guided tours around the building at 11am, 1.30 and 3pm, showing the work we are carrying out to save this fantastic building and we’ll be pointing out a few hidden architectural gems along the way.

Lots of hands on family friendly activities from garden games and kids trails to dress up and of course spotting our adorable monks.

We are open from Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm.

FREE museum entry. Monk trail and craft £1 per pack.
